The corners are a bit softer and somewhat hazy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>f\/5.6: <\/strong>Excellent to very good in the center and midframe region with very good contrast. The corners are still a bit hazy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>f\/8:\u00a0<\/strong>Very good sharpness across the frame.<\/p>\n<p><strong>f\/11: <\/strong>A little softer in the center due to diffraction.<\/p>\n<h1>Comment<\/h1>\n<p>The Pentax 3.5\/28 is my favorite wideangle lens at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>The lens is very well built with very low tolerances and an all metal housing. It is also quite small so handling is very pleasant. Only the reversed travel direction of the focusing ring is a bit bothersome for me who is used to <a href=\"http:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/lenses\/minolta-mcmd\/\">Minolta SR<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/lenses\/canon-fd\/\">Canon FD<\/a>\/ <a href=\"http:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/lenses\/zeiss-cy-lenses\/\">Zeiss C\/Y<\/a> lenses.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3109\" src=\"http:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/DSC02493.jpg\" alt=\"Pentax SMC 3.5\/28 K Product image\" width=\"800\" height=\"666\" srcset=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/DSC02493.jpg 800w, https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/DSC02493-300x250.jpg 300w, https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/DSC02493-768x639.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Optically it leaves little to be desired. There is some field curvature but of the good kind where the corners are focused in front of the center. I didn&#8217;t know that a 40 years old lens could be that flare resistant. The Pentax is even better than the <a href=\"http:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/review-carl-zeiss-distagon-2828-t\/\">Zeiss Distagon 2.8\/28<\/a> in this regard.<\/p>\n<div
