If you <strong>use both Kenko tubes at the same time there is significant radial play<\/strong> in the whole package which did really annoy me. This depends on the lens in use and where point light sources are situated in the frame.<\/p>\n<p>In this scene the differences are negligible:<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"twentytwenty\" class=\"twentytwenty-container\" style=\"display: none; max-width: 100%; width: 800px; height: 534px\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC09419.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC09418.jpg\"\/><\/div><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Before: Kenko \/ After: Fotodiox Pro<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>But with the point light source just barely outside the frame the <strong>problems with the Fotodiox Pro tube start to appear<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"twentytwenty\" class=\"twentytwenty-container\" style=\"display: none; max-width: 100%; width: 800px; height: 534px\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC09416.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC09415.jpg\"\/><\/div><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Before: Kenko \/ After: Fotodiox Pro<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is the same shot without any extension tubes for your reference:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6874\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6874\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6874 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC09417.jpg\" alt=\"Kenko and Fotodiox Pro extension tubes emount e-mount macro makro zwischenring extension ring full frame fullframe fe\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC09417.jpg 800w, https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC09417-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/DSC09417-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6874\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sony A7s | Zeiss Loxia 85mm 2.4 | 2.4 | MFD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So the<strong> felt really can make a difference.<\/strong> To my knowledge the Kenko tubes are the only ones that feature it from factory.<\/p>\n<h1>Alternatives<\/h1>\n<p>There are <strong>many cheaper extension tubes<\/strong> available, but I already lost some of my money by trying to get to work cheap extension tubes with my Nikon DSLRs, so I leapfrogged that step in E-mount land.<\/p>\n<p>As far as I know I tried the two most sophisticated (or expensive) E-mount extension tubes (<em>Sidenote: from the moment I bought the Fotodiox tubes until now the price dropped by almost 50%!<\/em>) and even they have some issues, <strong>for serious work I can only recommend not wasting any time and money with the cheaper tubes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h1>Conclusion<\/h1>\n<p>I am <strong>not really happy with either of the tubes<\/strong> I tested. Thing is, I actually need them, so I tried to pick the lesser of two evils.
