The Mr. Ding 50mm 1.1 Noxlux became a favorite of mine and many others, can they repeat that success with this 35mm 1.8 Pactcron? Let&#8217;s try to find out in this review.&nbsp;<br \/>\n<em>This lens will be reviewed on the 42mp Sony A7rII and the 24mp Leica M10 and some sample pictures taken on a Nikon Zf are also mainly made from brass, as it feels very heavy for a such a small lens &#8211; similar to the <a href=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/review-light-lens-lab-35mm-2-0-eight-element\/\">Light Lens Lab 35mm 2.0 8e<\/a>&nbsp;I previously reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>The focus ring has a nice, even resistance and turns around 120\u00b0 from the minimum focus distance of 0.7 m to infinity. The aperture ring can also be moved a bit past the f\/16 mark and the lens will even be stopped down a bit further.<\/p>\n<p>The click stops are very subtle and close to the f\/16 mark the resistance of the aperture ring also increases. href=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/review-artizlab-35mm-1-4-classic\/\">Artizlab 35mm 1.4 Classic<\/a> showed less contrast but Astigmatism was better corrected, making focusing a little easier.<\/p>\n<p>In the inner midframe this lens does perform better on the Leica camera with its <a href=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/different-filter-stacks-and-what-they-mean-for-us-sony-e-nikon-z-leica-m-kolari-ut\/\">thinner filter stack<\/a>, in the center and outer midframe there is So depending on which category you find yourself in, you will either love or hate this lens.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Generally this Mr. Ding 35mm 1.8 Pactcron falls in the &#8220;vintage\/classic&#8221; category. While it actually shows high contrast and resolution in the focal plane from wide open (unlike the <a href=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/review-artizlab-35mm-1-4-classic\/\">Artizlab 35mm 1.4 Classic<\/a>) and makes use of modern coatings (unlike the <a href=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/review-light-lens-lab-35mm-2-0-eight-element\/\">Light Lens Lab 35mm 2.0 8e<\/a>) it shows strong field curvature and Coma at wider apertures, leading to a rather strong falloff towards the corners. Others which fall in the &#8220;vintage\/classic&#8221; category are the Voigtl\u00e4nder VM 35mm 2.0 Ultron &#8211; which I haven&#8217;t reviewed yet &#8211; and the Voigtl\u00e4nder <a href=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/review-voigtlander-35mm-1-4-nokton-e-classic\/\">VM 35mm 1.4 Nokton Classic<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/review-ms-optics-35mm-1-4-apoqualia\/\">MS-Optics 35mm 1.4 Apoqualia<\/a> also has similar characteristics at f\/2.0, but it is a rare and expensive lens.<\/p>\n<p>Another recent competitor is the <a href=\"https:\/\/phillipreeve.net\/blog\/review-artizlab-35mm-1-4-classic\/\">Artizlab 35mm 1.4 Classic<\/a> from China. Generally I found this Mr. Ding 35mm 1.8 to perform a bit better (especially when it comes to contrast\/resolution and flare resistance), but the Artizlab is lighter, smaller and cheaper while being a bit faster.<\/p>\n<p>If you are looking for a compact lens with a more classic rendering which is more affordable be also sure to have a look at the <a
