Site Update: Gallery

The header bar has a new category called “Gallery”, you can also go there directly here.

This is for those of you that are mainly here for the pictures and less so for the lenses. I am starting with 9 different galleries and before extending those, I first want to see what the feedback looks like.

So drop a message in the comment section, especially if you encounter any kind of issues.

The following two tabs change content below.
My name is Bastian and I am your expert here when it comes to ultra wide angle lenses, super fast portrait lenses (ranging from a 50mm f/0.95 to a 200mm f/1.8) and I also have reviewed way too many 35mm lenses. Don't ask me anything about macro or wildlife shooting though.

  1. I am usually here for the lenses, but some days I do just need a bit of inspiration, so this is great!

  2. I’ve always had a gut feeling if you’d liked a lens or not based on the pictures you took with it for the review. They are always on the same (very high) technical level, and of course some are being taken purely as a demonstration of a specific aspect of a lens, but with some it’s also obvious to me that you had fun taking them.
A photographer knows (or at least think he does). Sometimes I’d come back just to check the images out again. I love lenses, but I love photography more.
I think that this is a great idea, and hopefully it will give your work some extra exposure too; it’s well deserved.

    1. Time and season are also important factors.
Sometimes I receive a new lens only shortly prior to release which doesn’t leave me with a lot of time.
Reviewing lenses in winter I am usually also not a huge fan of.

This is not to say you aren’t right. Some of the uninspiring lenses I remember not having a lot of fun with:
      Brightin Star 23mm 5.6, AstrHori 18mm 8.0, every 28mm 5.6 lens, every 135mm 4.0 lens.
I also try to avoid reviewing lenses I know I wouldn’t be having a lot of fun with, for example pretty much everything longer than 200mm (may make an exception for the Nikon 300mm 4.0 PF) and fisheye lenses and most definitely super zoom lenses.

  3. Great images. Maybe it’s time to rename the site to bastiankratzke.net or perhaps something more neutral…

It’s been a very very long time since Phillip was active on this site, and without your continued input the site wouldn’t still exist.

  4. Your beautiful photos makes me want to buy every lens you’ve evaluated. So far most of the photos shown on other photography equipment sites makes me wonder how they got their jobs.
